We need to transform women’s healthcare to tackle “medical misogyny”

Our Founder Professor Geeta Nargund highlights the recommendations made by the Women and Equalities Committee in their report on reproductive health conditions and “medical misogyny”. She cites the NHS Confederation report, in partnership with Create Health Foundation, emphasising the economic case for government investment in women’s healthcare.

Professor Nargund strongly supports the concept of women’s health hubs, but argues they must be in-person facilities: “a dedicated physical space with access or referral to an ultrasound scan and a blood test to give them a diagnosis before commencing treatment or being referred for secondary consultant care.”
